Research and Teaching Interests
General Areas: Contemporary Religious Thought and Philosophy of Religion.
Specialties: Pyrrhonian Skepticism, Religion and Spirituality (Doctoral Dissertation: The Skeptic Way as a Religious Way: A Meditation on Religion and Pyrrhonian Spirituality), Hermeneutics, Epistemology and Narrative; Religion, Spirituality and Popular Music.
Dr. DiBernardo is interested in researching and teaching at the intersection of religion, philosophy and spirituality; namely, the point where these phenomena converge to provide a therapeutic way of life and thought. He has presented papers and has served as a panelist at regional and national conferences in the area of contemporary
religious and philosophical thought, and has been given a grant recently to conduct research that will assess and implement practical philosophy in the local community.
Dr. DiBernardo is also a professional guitarist with 18 years of teaching and performing experience. His main influences include blues, neoclassical/rock fusion, reggae, and Latin styles. He has recorded with various artists in the New York area, the most notable being his credits on John Akers' releases: "Born on a Monday" and "King
Cake & Carmelites." He currently performs in an alternative rock band in New York.
